To woo the Indian consumers, they have come up with Nokia Asha mobile phones. The company launched the Asha range of phones which means hope in Hindi. The company is calling it an aspirational range of phones for the next billion. Looks like Nokia is trying to make a comeback in the low-end category which is now dominated by the likes of Micromax, Karbonn, Spice and similar vendors. Nokia a couple of days back announced the Asha Touch family of mobile devices which is described as taking another step towards connecting the next billion. The Asha 305, 306 and 311 are the first of Nokia’s low-end phones to have a full touch experience. These Nokia Asha Mobile Phones are built with features like Nokia Maps, Nokia Browser, access to 35,000 apps through Nokia Store.
Asha portfolio of devices represents the lower half of Nokia’s overall mobile device strategy, complementing the smartphone devices running Windows Phone and Symbian. Nokia describes the Asha Touch phones as having an incredibly rich which gives smartphone like experience to consumers who want to be set free from excessive data consumption costs and short battery life. The smartphone like may not be liked by some people, but by many of the most common smartphone definitions it is valid.
Lets discuss one of the recently launched from its Asha series mobile phones. Nokia Asha 305 is a high end Dual SIM touch screen feature phone from Nokia. It has Easy Swap Dual SIM support, which lets you swap SIM cards opening the device or turning the phone off. It features a 3.0″ TFT resistive touch screen. On the camera front it has 2MP camera that can shoot videos at 10fps. The phone has a 1110 mAh Li-Ion battery that provides up to 14 hours of talk time. This Nokia mobile phone is built with a 10 MB internal memory, expandable by up to 32GB via micro SD card. The Nokia Asha 305 comes pre-loaded with 40 EA games. The phone also has Nokia Browser, Nokia Life Apps. It is 12.8mm thick and weighs 98.3g. It is packed with pre-loaded Facebook and twitter social apps and 40 Free EA games such as Tetris, Bejeweled, Need for Speed The Run and Fifa 2012. Other features in Nokia Asha 305 include, Music Player and, FM Radio, GPRS/EDGE, Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR, Micro USB 2.0 with USB charging, 3.5 mm audio jack.
