Introduction:

The Nokia Asha 303 is the flagship of Nokia’s new affordable range, that is aimed towards youth and emerging markets. While not really impressive in terms of specs, Nokia’s Series 40 phones have been around for a while with millions of loyal followers in emerging markets and among teens.

The sands in the mobile industry have shifted a lot since those times, though, but Asha 303 with its 1GHz processor, 3MP camera, capacitive touchscreen and physical QWERTY keyboard is also an evolution of the lineup. Nokia Asha 303 review: Type smarter

Introduction

Nokia had two big announcements to make a few months ago. And yes, it’s a matter of perspective but, on certain markets, the S40-powered Asha series can be as big as Windows Phone. Anyway, now that the Lumia smartphones have had their deserved hype, it’s time for the Asha handsets to step forward.

The S40 platform got recently treated to lots of visual updates and the latest feature phones have joined the 1GHz league. The new Asha 303 seem to be sparing no effort to bring the complete user experience to traditionally loyal Nokia markets.

Exclusive: Nokia Asha 303 to get Rs. 8,990 price in India

While the Nokia Lumia series of Windows Phone handsets are definitely what the Nokia World conference in October were focussed on, CEO Stephen Elop also unveiled the Nokia Asha series of low-cost handsets alongside. The devices are aimed at markets like India (obvious, given the name, which is Hindi for ‘hope’) and feature two touch-and-type variants and two low-end QWERTY handsets.

The Nokia Asha 303 is the range’s flagship model, featuring a 2.6-inch capacitive touchscreen and QWERTY keyboard. Phone Mantra has now learnt from multiple sources that the Nokia Asha 303 will be launching in India in the first week of December with an MRP of Rs. 8,990, and an expected best buy price in India of Rs. 8,150. The device is expected to be available in retail stores by the end of the month.
